Mesa Verde National Park is most famous for the 600 cliff dwellings and thousands of other archaeological sites that were built by the Ancestral Pueblo people who lived here from around 600AD to 1300AD. The park was created in 1906 and is located in the southwest corner of Colorado, about 10 miles from the town of Cortez.
