University of Phoenix Stadium is the name of the home field for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL). Strangely, the University of Phoenix has no athletic teams of it's own (it's a for-profit institution with outlets all over the country), they just bought the rights to put their name on the stadium. The domed stadium opened in 2006, but with natural grass: the field slides out a hole in the side of the stadium so that it can be exposed to the elements between games. (No, we're not kidding.)
In addition to hosting the Cardinals NFL games, University of Phoenix Stadium has also been the site of the Super Bowl, the Fiesta Bowl and the NCAA football championship game.
