The Alamo is the historic site of a former Roman Catholic mission (originally known as Mission San Antonio de Valero) which was the site of the historic Battle of the Alamo in 1836. While the Texas combatants in this pivotal point in the Texas Revolution all died in the battle, "Remember the Alamo" became a rallying cry for Texans and resulted in the end of the revolution six weeks later. The Alamo is now a museum in downtown San Antonio.
