The Miami Marlins Ballpark became the home field of the Marlins starting with the 2012 Major League Baseball season. The famous Orange Bowl football stadium was demolished and the Marlins stadium was built on the site. The new stadium has a retractable roof so that games won't be interrupted by rain. The Miami Marlins stadium is about 2 miles west of downtown Miami. Prior to the 2012 season, the Florida Marlins played home games at Sun Life Stadium.
