National Museum of American History
14th & Constitution Avenue Washington, District of Columbia 20004
National Museum of American History reopened in 2009 after being closed for several years for a major renovation. This is the branch of the Smithsonian Institution that contains historical and cultural artifacts ranging from the flag that flew over Fort McHenry (and inspired "The Star Spangled Banner") to the ruby slippers worn by Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz". And it's all free!
