The Virginia Beach Oceanfront is located along the Atlantic coast just south of the entrance to the Chesapeake Bay. The primary resort area along the oceanfront is fronted by a 3+ mile "boardwalk" (actually made of concrete). While the "resort strip" is full of hotels, to the north and south are areas containing homes occupied by full-time residents or available for short-term rental.
