The Hotel Alcott

At the southern tip of New Jersey, Hotel Alcott is a restored Italianate-bracketed villa located steps from the Atlantic Ocean and approximately 50 miles from Atlantic City International Airport. The hotel is also 90 miles from Philadelphia and 190 miles from Washington DC. This historic property, Cape May's second-oldest operating hotel, debuted in 1878 as the Arlington House. One of the hotel's frequent patrons, and certainly its most famous, was Louisa May Alcott.

Hotel amenities include the period antiques, second-floor verandah, courtyard fountain, sun room, complimentary continental breakfast, and La Verandah Restaurant, where elegant dining is offered on the outdoor verandah or in the high-ceilinged, 19th-century-style room. Among the many areas of renovation, the hotel has taken pains to restore the original dining room, the solid chestnut wood in the lobby, the plaster ceiling medallions in the lobby, and the hanging staircase, one of the earliest of its type in this country, featuring no posts or visible supports. The hotel also offers room service (in season), afternoon refreshments, and concierge service.

All rooms feature private tile or granite baths, TVs, dataports, free local calls, beach towels, and air-conditioning.
