Biscayne National Park comprises over 170,000 acres - 95% of it underwater. It includes most of Biscayne Bay south of Miami, plus the mainland shoreline and barrier islands (coral reef keys) that surround that part of the bay. It protects a vast expanse of coral reefs and a mangrove forest on the mainland. The Dante Fascell Vistor Center is located at the eastern edge of Homestead, Florida - the rest of the park is only accessible by boat.
