The Dallas Cowboys are ready to start the 2009 season in their brand new $1 billion stadium and visitors may be interested in finding hotels near Cowboys Stadium.  Finally, if you have a thing for desert football and, specifically, the Arizona Cardinals then you might want to search our list of hotels near University of Phoenix Stadium.

More Major League Baseball Stadiums Added

Today we discovered a few major league baseball stadiums weren’t represented in our collection of “landmarks” and quickly rectified that oversight.  Baseball fans can now use the resources of to find hotels near Busch Stadium in St. Louis (home of the Cardinals), hotels near AT&T Park in San Francisco (the bayside stadium where the Giants play) and hotels near Nationals Park in Washington, DC (where the Nationals currently struggle mightily to gain respectability).

Places To Be Seen In Los Angeles

In our neverending search for places you might want to go, we’ve found a couple of spots in Los Angeles and added them to the system at

The Kodak Theatre in Hollywood is the current home of the annual Academy Awards ceremonies, so we didn’t need any envelopes to tell us that we should have a page of hotels near the Kodak Theater.

If you’re an award-winning kind of person (or just enjoy watching others win), you’ll probably also be visiting the Nokia Theatre LA Live.  It’s located southwest of downtown LA and is the place to be for the Emmy’s , ESPY’s and American Music Awards.  Plan ahead by checking out the hotels near Nokia Theatre LA Live.

Even if you’re not going to the Nokia Theatre, there’s all kinds of things to see and do at LA Live, the entertainment complex next door to the LA Convention Center and the Staples Center.  Easily enough to do here that you might want to stay at one of the hotels near LA Live.

New Washington DC Area Landmarks Added

We regularly update our list of “landmarks and places” with new destinations and new information.  Today we were concentrating on the Washington DC metro area.

In the downtown “historic core” of Washington, we added pages where you can now easily find hotels near the National Archives Building and hotels near the National Building Museum.  We also fixed an error that would’ve misled you if you were looking for hotels near the National Gallery of Art (we apologize for the error and welcome your input on any other mistakes you might find).  Fixing a smaller error, we corrected the name of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.

Out in the suburbs we added information about hotels near Comcast Center (home of the University of Maryland basketball teams) and the University of Maryland golf course.

It’s well outside the DC metro area, but we also added a page of hotels near Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey.  Just in case you’re ever lucky enough to be invited to play on that excellent private course.  It’s the site of the next week’s stop on the PGA Tour.

Updated City Hotel Pages

More improvements at TheRealPlaces this week – the “city” pages that provide information about hotels in thousands of cities worldwide now have a few new things that we think will be helpful when looking for places to stay.  For an example of the changes, take a look at our Orlando hotel page.

A “multi-purpose” search box is shown in the top section of each city’s page.  It’s the quickest way of comparing available hotels, flights, hotel + air packages, rental cars and “last minute” deals that fit your requirements.

For over 150 of the world’s top destinations we now list some of “This Week’s Top Hotel Deals” right at the top of the page.  These are guaranteed to be up-to-date with the best available offers on hotels in the city.  Plus, click on the “View all of the latest hotel deals” link at the bottom of this list for even more offers.

Improved Search Engine

Today we installed what we think is a much-improved “search engine” for (it’s what provides the results that you see if you use the “Search” box found throughout the site).  Information for matching hotels has been expanded to give you the option of going to the “Overview”, “Map”, “Rates” or “Reviews” pages for each hotel.

A new “Places & Landmarks” list is now shown with search results.  If you search for something other than the name of a hotel (for instance, “Yankee Stadium”), you’ll see a list of matching landmarks.  Click on any of these results to see a map-based view of “hotels near Yankee Stadium” – or wherever else you may be interested in going.

As always, it’s easy to use our search system – just enter any phrase into the “search” box found at the top of most the pages at
