New York’s Surrey Hotel Gets Recreated

More than just a renovation, the Surrey Hotel on New York’s upper east side has undergone a $60 million “re-creation” that will end with a grand reopening on November 1st.

The “Beaux-Arts”-style hotel features 190 guest rooms (“salons” – including 30 suites), in-room dining by Café Boulud, a new lobby bar, a rooftop English garden, the “Spa at The Surrey” and a newly-installed collection of contemporary art with works by Jenny Holzer, Jimmie Martin, William Kentridge and others.

Bar Pleiades is just off the lobby with a view of the passers-by on Madison Avenue. Café Boulud is the hotel’s primary restaurant, a “casual dining” establishment that also provides the “in-room” dining for hotel guests.

The Surrey Hotel is located on East 76th Street in Manhattan, a block from Central Park between 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue.
