Mountain West Conference Football Hotels

The Mountain West Conference (MWC) is one of several college football conferences that experienced significant shake-ups in 2010.  In the next couple of years the MWC will see a couple of universities leave (BYU and Utah) and some programs join the conference (Boise State, Fresno State and Nevada).  Meanwhile, as Mountain West football fans have been enjoying the home games of their favorite teams during the 2010 season, TheRealPlaces has been the popular choice for finding hotels closest to all Mountain West Conference football stadiums.

Currently leading the conference – and ranked #4 in the country – are the TCU Horned Frogs.  They’re 5-0 at Amon G. Carter stadium thus far this year with only the 11/13 game against San Diego State left on the home schedule.  Also undefeated are the Utah Utes (6-0, 3-0, ranked #9 nationally), who still have home games versus Colorado State, TCU and BYU scheduled for Rice-Eccles Stadium visits.

The Air Force Academy is in the hunt for both the MWC conference title and the inter-academy “Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy” after an early season win versus Navy.  The Air Force Falcons are currently 3-1 in the conference, with games at Falcon Stadium against Utah and new Mexico still to come in 2010.

San Diego State is 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the MWC thus far in 2010.  The Aztecs hope to add home victories at Qualcomm Stadium against Colorado State, Utah and UNLV to earlier wins over Nicholls State, Utah State and Air Force.

Traditional football powerhouse BYU Cougars haven’t been quite as powerful in recent years and they’re 2-5 overall with a 1-2 record in the MWC this year.  Wyoming, UNLV and New Mexico are still headed to LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo later this season.  The record of the Colorado State Rams is the same as BYU, with games scheduled against New Mexico and BYU still ahead at Hughes Stadium in Fort Collins.

Things are tough at the bottom of the MWC standings with UNLV, New Mexico and Wyoming struggling to accumulate just three wins between them – and only one in conference play.  The UNLV Rebels are 1-6 – their only victory coming against fellow conference also-ran New Mexico at home at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas.  The Wyoming Cowboys have managed two wins outside the conference to get to 2-5 but they’re 0-3 in the MWC, including losses to Air Force and Utah at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie.  The New Mexico Lobos are having a season to forget (0-6, 0-2), but Lobo fans hope to see something positive in the remaining home games versus San Diego State, Wyoming and TCU at University Stadium in Albuquerque.
