Today we wish a Happy 86th Birthday to rock-and-roll legend Chuck Berry. If you’re in the Cleveland area, you might want to celebrate by checking out the tributes to Chuck and other rock pioneers at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. This year the 17th annual edition of the American Music Masters series will be a tribute to Chuck Berry. Daily events will be held October 22-27 in Cleveland, finishing up with a big tribute concert at the State Theater on the 27th.
Mr. Berry was among the first class of inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986. While the ceremonies are usually held at the Waldorf Astoria in New York, the museum is on the waterfront in Cleveland. The I.M. Pei-designed building opened in 1995 after an extended process of choosing the host city and then a location in Cleveland. The main part of the museum is a pyramid with seven levels of exhibits. The Hall of Fame is on the third floor, with exhibits devoted to each inductee and a wall with signatures from each.
