Loews Regency Reopens on New York’s Park Avenue

Located at the corner of Park Avenue and 61st Street in midtown Manhattan, Loews Regency Hotel has offered luxury accommodations near the south end of Central Park since opening in 1963.  The hotel has been closed since January 1st, 2013 as the owners decided to give it a major facelift for its 50th birthday.  But the renovation project is nearing completion and they’re now accepting reservations for visits beginning January 16, 2014.

Also new is the Julien Farel Salon & Spa, offering salon and spa treatments for both men and women.  The primary salon area features wall-to-ceiling windows and a dedicated entrance on 61st Street.  For men, there’s a new ground-floor space set aside for shaves and hair styling.

The Loews Regency New York has always taken pride as being one of the places for a New York “power breakfast”.  The hotel’s restaurant has been redesigned as part of the renovation project and they hope that devotees of the power breakfast will return when the hotel reopens in January.  A private dining room, seating up to 20, is available for special occasions in the restaurant and features access to the wine cellar.  The new bar & lounge, The Library, is located in the lobby and will offer a “light snack” menu in addition to some special cocktails.

Other hotels in midtown Manhattan near Loews Regency include the more moderately-priced (for New York) Affinia Gardens and several five-star hotels: the Hotel Plaza Athenee New York, The Carlyle, The Surrey and The Lowell.
