Big 12 Football Hotels

2010 has been a better year on-field than off-field for the Big 12 conference.  On the field, four teams have jumped out to 4-0 records (Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma State) and Oklahoma is already 5-0.  Off the field, it looked for awhile earlier this year that the Big 12 would completely disappear, although (for the moment) they’ll only lose two teams (Nebraska to the Big 10 and Colorado to the Pac 10) over the next two years.  Regardless of inter- and intra-conference politics, hundreds of thousands of fans will attend Big 12 games each weekend this year and TheRealPlaces can now help you find the hotels nearest each Big 12 football stadium.

One of the teams currently leading the North Division is Kansas State.  This weekend (10/7/10) the Wildcats play host to inter-divisional rival Nebraska at Bill Snyder Family Stadium in Manhattan, Kansas.  Home games against Oklahoma State and Texas are still on the 2010 schedule.

Those Nebraska Cornhuskers are also 4-0 and have four more home games scheduled for Memorial Stadium in Lincoln this year.  The Missouri Tigers are the third undefeated team in the North Division.  Missouri plays their home match-ups at Faurot Field in Columbia, Missouri and still have to play Colorado, Oklahoma, and Kansas State there this season.

Fans of the Colorado Buffaloes hope to see their team improve on their 3-1 record in the remaining games at Folsom Field versus Baylor, Texas Tech, Iowa State and Kansas State.  The Iowa State Cyclones have begun their 2012 campaign with a 3-2 record.  The Cyclones play home games at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, Iowa.  After a 55-7 thumping on the road against Baylor last week dropped them to 2-3 for the season, Kansas Jayhawk football fans are hoping that the remaining home games at Memorial Stadium in Lawrence against Kansas State, Texas A&M, Colorado, Oklahoma State and Missouri provide better results.

The South Division is the home of “perennial powerhouse” Oklahoma, which has played several close games but is still 5-0 and 1-0 in the conference.  The Oklahoma Sooners play home games at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, with three home games left on the 2010 schedule.  In-state rival Oklahoma State is close behind at 4-0 and 1-0.   Nebraska, Baylor and Oklahoma are the remaining home games scheduled for the OSU Cowboys at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater.

The Baylor Bears are 4-1.  You can still see them play in any of their four remaining home games at Floyd Casey Stadium in Waco, Texas.  The Texas Longhorns are off to a rougher than usual start in 2010 with a 3-2 record after five games.  But we’ll predict near-sellout crowds for the five home games scheduled for DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium, including the much-anticipated November 20th match-up against powerhouse Florida Atlantic!  (Just kidding.  About the “powerhouse”.  They are playing Florida Atlantic.)

Texas A&M and Texas Tech round out the South Division with 3-1 and 2-2 records, respectively.  The Texas A&M Aggies will be playing four more games at Kyle Field in College Station this season, while the Texas Tech Red Raiders host games against Baylor, Oklahoma State, Missouri, Weber State and Houston at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock in October and November.

The winners of the North and South divisions will meet in the Dr Pepper Big 12 Football Championship on December 4, 2010.  This year the game is being played at the ultra-modern Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
