Candlestick Park is the home field of the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL). The stadium opened in 1960 for use by San Francisco Giants baseball team. The 49ers started sharing occupancy in 1971. It's also been known as 3Com Park and Monster Park. Candlestick is probably best known for the windy conditions that often made things very interesting for the Giants (before they moved out in 2000).
