2014 US Figure Skating Championships

td-garden-boston-slideshowEver since they put the Summer Olympics and Winter Olympics on an alternating two-year schedule, we’re never too far away from selecting another US Olympic Team.  And that means we’re just a few months away from the series of events that help choose who will represent the United States in the figure skating events.  The final event in this cycle is the 2014 US Figure Skating Championships, to be held in Boston January 4 – January 12, 2014.

The main “senior level” events – and some junior events – will be held at TD Garden, home arena of the Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins.  2013 US champions are Max Aaron (men), Ashley Wagner (women), Marissa Castelli and Simon Shnapir (pairs) and Meryl Davis and Charlie White (ice dancing).  Most of the junior, intermediate, novice and juvenile level competition will be held at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.

In related news, the International Skating Union (ISU) announced yesterday that Boston will also host the 2016 World Figure Skating Championships.  The best skaters in the world will come to Boston March 28-April 3, 2016.
