Everglades National Park comprises over 1.5 million acres of tropical wilderness at the southern tip of Florida. It is home to 36 endangered species including the Florida panther, American crocodile and West Indian manatee - as well as hundreds of other birds, fish and mammals. It was the first US National Park created to protect a threatened ecosystem. The main entrance is on the east side of the park, near Homestead, Florida.
