Every year from September to June
hockey fans can enjoy the games of the NHL (National Hockey
League) season. While the NHL still thrives in its "Original
Six" major cities (New York, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Montreal,
Toronto), in the last twenty years teams have been added to
places that you don't immediately associate with hockey (like
Phoenix and Florida) as well as some smaller cities (like
Columbus, Nashville and Raleigh).

guide to hotels near NHL hockey arenas is an
easy way to find places to stay - just click on the name of the

Added to
the league in 2011 were the
Winnipeg Jets, the result of moving the Atlanta Thrashers to
Manitoba. The Jets play at MTS Centre in downtown
Winnipeg. The Nashville Predators didn't move to a new
arena for the 2011-2012 season but their home did get a new
name: Bridgestone Arena.
Consol Energy Center debuted in 2010 as the new home of the NHL's Pittsburgh
Penguins. Like it's predecessor, Mellon Arena, it's
located on the eastern edge of downtown Pittsburgh with numerous
hotels a short distance away.
