Parker River National Wildlife Refuge is located on the southern end of Plum Island, a barrier island on the Atlantic Ocean about 40 miles northeast of Boston. Parker River's 4,662 acres are popular spots for viewing over 350 species of birds plus the occasional harbor seal.
