Mellon Arena, nicknamed "The Igloo" and previously called Pittsburgh Civic Arena, was built in 1961. It was the home arena for the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1961 to 2010. The Penguins moved across the street into the new Consol Energy Center for the 2010-2011 NHL season.
