Conrad New York Now Open In Battery Park City

The 16-story all-suite Conrad New York is now open for guests looking for a place to stay on New York City’s lower west side.  This new 5-star hotel is located in the Battery Park City neighborhood, across the street from the memorials – and new construction – at the World Trade Center site.  The location on the Hudson River waterfront splits the hotel between rooms suites with river views and suites with city views.

Visits to the Conrad New York all start in the 15-story, sunlit atrium lobby.  The most noticeable feature of the lobby is the 100′ x 80′ painting called “Loopy Doopy (Blue and Purple)” by artist Sol LeWitt.  That’s just the biggest of over 2,000 works of art used to furnish the Conrad.

Also named “Loopy Doopy” is the bar located on the roof of the hotel, open during the warmer months.  It’s an open-air space with great views to the west of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and the Hudson River.  The Conrad’s primary restaurant is “Atrio”, featuring the gustatory stylings of Executive Chef Anthony Zamora (formerly of Four Seasons New York).  Atrio specializes in “contemporary Mediterranean” cuisine prepared in an open kitchen.

The Conrad’s 463 suites range from the 430 square foot “Deluxe” to the 700 square foot “Premier” and the 750 square foot “Luxury”.  All suites are available in both king and double configurations and include a couple of HDTV’s, mini bar, espresso machines, wireless internet access and an iPod dock.  Rooms have been designed by Jill Greaves and includes separate areas for work and sleep.
