Anchorage

Anchorage is Alaska’s largest city, located way up near the top of Cook Inlet in the south-central part of the state. It’s about 575 miles northwest of the state capital, Juneau. Mt. McKinley and Denali National Park are 130 miles north of here, a pretty spectacular trip by car or bus if you visit at the right time of the year.

Interesting Anchorage factoid: It’s right around half-way between New York and Tokyo, making Anchorage International Airport a popular refueling point for long flights between the US east coast and Asia.
